Our Services

GFI provides services in three key areas:

  • An information, advice and assessment service for individuals
  • An Association and online Directory for professionals
  • A training service for organisations on achieving improved outcomes for independent living, using sustainable business models

1    Information, Advice and Assessments

Going for Independence provides an impartial information service on a wide range of specialist equipment, adaptations and adjustments to enable people to remain independent and safe at home or in the workplace.

Through our membership we can help people to access independent Therapists for a consultation and assessment service in their area.

2   GFI Association and online Directory

We are now developing the GFI Association (links goes to the GFIASS page) to support Independent Therapists in the emerging social enterprise sector, providing a CRB check service, work opportunities and a UK- wide Directory. Read more about the GFI Directory here.

Independent Occupational Therapists who are members ot the GFI Association offer a trusted alternative to statutory services which are only available free to people with the highest level of need. Register here for the GFI Association and/or Directory.

3    Training

Learning2Adapt is the name of the training arm being developed at GFI.

We will showcase a range of courses and workshops  including the S.M.I.L.E programme, with new information on adapting to change together with the latest technologies.

The importance of timely information
We know that the right information provided at the right time can be the key to maintaining health and wellbeing.

Appointments for an assessment will be made by the Therapist at your convenience. For some people it will be important to have a family member or friend there. Sometimes this is easier outside normal office hours, so appointments can be made on weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Our office hours for receiving calls are 9.00 am till 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.
We have an answer machine for out of hours calls.

Contact us by email or telephone our office on 0128 249 5515 or our Helpline on 0800 612 8909 for more information on the range of services we provide.
